Gen. Marquis de Lafayette is well known as an American Revolutionary War hero, but a less known fact is that he also a Freemason, which heavily influenced his role. In honor of the bicentennial of Lafayette’s American farewell tour – a series of events being celebrated in Philadelphia and across the country – the Masonic Temple in Philadelphia is offering French-speaking guided tours of the building, including an exhibition showcasing written correspondence by Lafayette, his Masonic apron and other artifacts from the museum collection.
